A free app. A sustainable way to build it.
I’m Marco, the creator of PCB Studio. I want people to be able to use the app without paying for a software license. The current beta opens in small groups so I can follow projects and improve the tool personally. An open source release is planned.
The business model is paid work for people and teams who need something specific: an integration with their systems, an adapted workflow or a custom feature. Scope, compatibility, price and delivery are agreed before work begins. You do not need to purchase these services to use PCB Studio.
Free PCB Studio access does not include third-party AI subscriptions or usage. You bring your own account for those services. Financial support does not affect admission to the beta.

The planned campaign would support the AI tools I use during development, physical prototypes, components, assembly and hands-on testing. The aim is to improve PCB Studio through building real hardware, and share that hardware with supporters.
My estimated recurring development-tools budget is €800 per month. The final funding goal also needs to cover prototyping, the hardware rewards, fulfillment and campaign costs. It will be set once those costs and the funded period are confirmed.

I’m exploring rewards around OrbitX and TRACE-X, from a bare board to an assembled device. These are planned reward formats, not products available to order. Exact contents, prices, quantities and delivery dates will be confirmed before pledges open.

A bare PCB, with a parts list and build documentation. Electronic components and assembly are separate.
Builder Kit

The board plus a defined set of keys, switches or other controls. The final tier will list every included part and the assembly required.
Assembled Edition
From the workbench to you
Assembled and tested hardware. Firmware, enclosure, accessories and the available assembly or test report will be specified in the final reward.
Custom Edition
Made for your workflow
A limited number of hardware rewards with a clearly scoped integration or customization included. Supported systems and the work included will be defined before pledges open.
From a design to something you can hold.
The published OrbitX and TRACE-X demonstrations show designs developing in PCB Studio. CAD views and app recordings show the design process; they are not a demonstration of manufactured, working reward units.
Before opening hardware pledges, the campaign needs a working prototype demonstration, a production plan and costed rewards. A first numbered series and documentation of the assembly and testing are part of the plan. Any manufacturer report will describe the checks actually provided.
